Technology Innovation Challenge – Call for Expressions of Interest

We are happy to announce that the Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) on Technology Innovation Challenge (Energy) is now open!

Three grants will be awarded to innovative technology solutions.  The selected proposal will receive a maximum of US$500,000 grant.  Technology providers must co-finance at least 10% of the total cost.

Maldives Learns Solid Waste Management Best Practices
and High-Level Technology from Japan

Maldives, a popular tourist destination, is experiencing continued urbanization and growth momentum. Without an organized and sustainable waste management system, it could face worse environmental, public health, and economic problems.

ADB’s Greater Malé Environmental Improvement and Waste Management Project is supporting the Government of Maldives in developing an advanced climate- and disaster-resilient waste management system from collection to disposal. Through the support of ADB’s High-Level Technology Fund, Maldives is learning best solid waste management practices from Japanese experts and exploring a partnership with Japan to improve Maldives’ capacity in managing high-level technology for waste management.



High-Level Technology Fund Presents at 10th ADB Business Opportunities Fair

HLT Fund’s Team Leader Ayato Kurokawa shared the available opportunities for technology providers through the support of the HLT Fund at the 10th ADB Business Opportunities Fair (BOF). Kurokawa also discussed the HLT Fund’s overall structure and activities.

The ADB BOF is a one-stop forum for consultants, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and civil society organizations looking to provide goods, works, and services for ADB projects. It has proven to be an excellent opportunity to network with peers in the industry and with ADB specialists in the agriculture, environment, energy, public management, finance, transport, water, urban development, health, and education sectors.



HLT Fund Joins Regional Workshop on HLT in Japan

The Energy Sector Group, in cooperation with the Japanese Representative Office, held a 3-day workshop and technical tour on HLT on 27 February- 1 March 2019. A brief session on the HLT Fund was held during the workshop to introduce how the Fund can support ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs).

More than 60 officials and experts attended the workshop, including a representative from the HLT Fund, to discuss the way forward to deploy clean energy technologies in ADB’s DMCs.



Knowledge-sharing Session: High-level Technologies for Health

Leading Japanese technology providers NEC and Fujitsu presented their eHealth technologies, including mHealth, electronic medical record and unique identification, to ADB’s Health Sector Group last 23 April 2018. The information exchange session was co-organized by SPD’s High-Level Technology Fund team, Health Sector Group and Japanese trade association JMC.

ADB’s STGs and operations departments may now apply for the HLT Fund online. Co-developed by OCO, OIST and SPD, the online form seeks to make the application process easier and faster to better promote HLT integration into ADB projects.

ADB and JMC Exchange Knowledge on Japanese Quality Infrastructure Technology

More than 60 representatives from ADB, JICA, and leading Japanese technology firms gathered on 8 Feb 2018 at ADB HQ to share knowledge and opportunities for collaboration on different sector and thematic areas. This session is co-organized by SPD’s High-Level Technology Fund, STGs, and Japan Machinery Center for Trade and Investment.
